Peggy Lee, 82, of Winnie,
died Tuesday, November 17, 2015. She was born on November 16, 1933, in Memphis,
Tennessee, to Margaret Mueller Morgan and Emmitt E. Morgan, had been a longtime
resident of the Winnie area, and was a former ‘Woman of the Year’ of the Women’s
Civic Club.
Mrs. Lee was a rural route mail
carrier, and active as an officer and volunteer of the local Pony League, which
hosted the state competition. She was also an avid bowler and golfer, and participated
in other community service activities.
As the wife of a career soldier,
she guided her family to duty stations around the world, including Germany,
Hawaii, Kansas, Virginia and Texas.
Peggy is survived by
children, Lou Ann Rice and her husband, Bob, of New Caney; Walter T. Lee, Jr.
and his wife, Leslie, of Denver, Colorado; Laurie Lee of Houston; and Jeffrey
Lee and his wife, Jamie, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Margaret Saunders and her
husband, Loren, of Kansas City, Missouri; Connor Lee of Denver, Colorado; and
Jayden Lee and Jaxton Lee, both of Sour Lake; great-grandchild, Charlie
Saunders of Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous other loving family members.
She is preceded in death by
her parents; and her loving husband of sixty-two years, Walter Thompson Lee.
A
gathering of Mrs. Lee’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015, at
Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
