Sumitra Ahluwalia

Sumitra Ahluwalia, 80, of Beaumont, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Beaumont. She was born on January 26, 1935, to Lajwanti and Harbans Singh Ahluwalia, in India. Sumitra enjoyed traveling, cooking, and entertaining. She was full of life and loved everyone with an open heart and open arms.

Survivors include her husband, Amar Ahluwalia; children, Alka Khatri and her husband, Vinod, of Beaumont; Anita Ohrie of Houston; and Ajit Ahluwalia and his wife, Rekha of Houston; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Aruna Sajnani; and sons-in-law, Dalip Ohrie and Purshotam Sajnani.

A memorial service for Mrs. Ahluwalia will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
