Joseph
Hathorn “Sonny” Broussard, Jr., 85, of Nome, died Saturday, November 14, 2015,
at his residence. He was born on March 12, 1930, in Beaumont, to Edith R.
Sherrod Broussard and Joseph Hathorn Broussard, Sr., and had lived in Nome most
of his life.
Sonny
was a Deacon with First Baptist Church, Nome, and over the years had served on
different committees with the church. He was nominated Farmer of the Year from
the Texas Rice Festival, Winnie. Sonny was known for his honesty and being a
good business man. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, deer
hunting.
Sonny
is survived by his children, Joe Broussard III and his wife, Sharon and Gene
Broussard and his wife, Becky, all of Nome; seven grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Lee Broussard, of
Nome; brother-in-law, R.C. Gatlin, of Hardin; and sister-in-law, Dorothy
Thomas, of Conroe.
He
is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Nona Mae Broussard.
A
gathering of Mr. Broussard’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until
7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive,
Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015,
at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park,
Beaumont.
