Lela Mae Hicks Griffith, 87, of Nederland, died Friday, October 30, 2015. She was born on January 5, 1928, in Spurger, to Ettie Lee Walker and Clyde Hicks.  

Lela was a cafeteria worker for Nederland Independent School District for twenty years.

Survivors include her son, Ross Griffith and his wife, Anne, of Port Neches; and Randall Griffith and his wife, Jody and Gary Griffith, all of Nederland; daughter, Charlotte Wallace of Nederland; grandchildren, Cheri Visser, Gwenda Golmon, Griff Griffith, Jake Griffith, Katy Watson, Ashley Wallace Wright, Lance Wallace, Tarah Driskell, Tyler Griffith, and Emma Griffith; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Hicks and Sonny Hicks; sister, Sally Jeffcoat; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Willie L. Griffith.

A gathering of Mrs. Griffith’s family and friends will be at 11:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, with Griff Griffith, Jake Griffith, Tyler Griffith, Lance Wallace, Kade Scroggs, and Kent Hicks as acting pallbearers.
