Edna Louise Drake
Robichau, 89, of Lufkin, formerly of Beaumont, died Thursday, October 22, 2015,
in Lufkin. She was born on December 8, 1925, in Beaumont, to Mime May
Christopher Drake and Francis Drake.
Edna graduated from
Silsbee High School in 1944, where she was a cheerleader, voted most popular
her senior year, and was senior class vice president. She worked for her future
father-in-law, H.P. Robichau, Sr., at Gulf States Utilities after graduation, and
later worked for various schools in the Beaumont Independent School District
compiling attendance statistics. Edna loved to play golf, and was widely
renowned for her expertise at bridge and dominos. She was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, to whom her family turned for
advice and counsel. Edna was a great friend to many throughout Beaumont, as
well as Jefferson and Hardin counties, and The Forum of San Antonio. She was a past member of St. Anne Catholic
Church, Beaumont.
Edna is survived by her
sons, Frank Robichau, Jr. of Suisun City, California; Tom Robichau and his
wife, Linda, of St. Peters, Missouri; and Roger Robichau and Melanie Kleas of
Houston; daughters, Judy Dunn and her husband, Tom, of Lufkin and Mary Kathryn
Allen and her husband, Jimmy, of San Antonio; ten grandchildren; twelve
great-grandchildren; brother, Carroll Drake and his wife, Mary, of Fort Worth;
and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in
death by her husband, Frank J. Robichau, Sr.; parents; and sisters, Frances Mae
Drake Milner Taft and Patsy Drake Freeman.
A gathering of Mrs.
Robichau’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral
service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000
McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her interment
will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 South Medford
Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901, who provided loving care and support to Edna and
her family.
