James "Jimmy" Hollis Hammonds, Jr.

James
Hollis Hammonds, Jr., of Nederland, died at home on Monday evening, October 19,
2015. He was born on September 10, 1944, in Toledo,
Ohio, to James Hollis Hammonds, Sr. and Willa Dean (Crews) Hammonds. immy was reared in Northwest Ohio before
moving with his family to Nederland in April, 1968.
Jimmy suffered brain damage
from a high fever when he was 6 years old.
He was never able to attend school or to enjoy a life that most
experience. He loved people and was a
blessing to so many over the course of his life. Jimmy loved the Lord and loved going to
church. It was his favorite thing to do.
He was a dedicated Houston Astros fan
and loved to watch and listen to the games. He will be sorely missed.
Jimmy was preceded in death
by his father and mother; and two brothers, Jerry and Ronnie Hammonds.
He is survived by five
siblings, Don Hammonds and his wife, Tesha, of Grand Junction, Colorado; Cheryl
Everett of Traverse City, Michigan; Dave Hammonds and his wife, Shirley, of
Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Mike Hammonds and his wife, Ellen, of Nederland; and Jeff
Hammonds and his wife, Camille, of Aurora, Oregon; and numerous cousins, nieces,
and nephews.
A memorial service for Jimmy will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2015, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A private family committal was held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.
