Verna
Jo Carter, 86, of Beaumont, died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Harbor Hospice,
Beaumont. She was born on October 17, 1929, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Ida Lee
Baxter and Vernon C. Polk. Verna enjoyed fishing, hunting for arrowheads, and
spending time at the beach. She was a loving and generous person who
volunteered her time to churches and hospitals.
She
is survived by her daughter, Judy Brocato and her husband, Dick; grandchild,
Brandon Brocato and his wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Cade Brocato and Cole
Brocato, all of Beaumont; sisters, Wanda Jones of Newton and Bobbie Grammer;
and brother, Billy Polk, both of Texarkana, Arkansas.
She
is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-five years, Bill Carter;
and sisters, Madaline Sellers and Maxine Dozier.
A
gathering of Mrs. Carter’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her
funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Wesley
United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will
follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of
Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
