Carolyn Gunter, 77, of Town
Bluff, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at her daughter’s residence in Lumberton.
She was born on December 1, 1937, in Rayville, Louisiana, to O.C. Harrell Bell and Preston Bell.
She was a lifelong resident of
the area, where she loved to worship the Lord at Fairview Baptist
Church, taught Sunday
school, and took care of her loving husband, Jim. She loved everybody unconditionally and never
met a stranger. Everyone was welcome in her home and she made sure that
everyone was taken care of, fed, and loved. Her heart overflowed with love for
her family and that spilled over into her everyday life.
Survivors include her husband,
James Roland (Jim) Gunter; children, Roland Jefferson (Jeff) Gunter and his
wife, Barbara, of Beaumont; and Shari Kai (Gunter) Whitmire, of Lumberton;
grandchildren, Kristen Michelle Whitmire, Kaitlin Nichole (Whitmire) Huckeba
and her husband, Dylan, and Kari Leighann Whitmire, all of Lumberton; sister, Jane Chesson and her husband, Jerry,
of Bridge City; and numerous nieces, nephews,
and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Crockett Wayne
Whitmire, and grandsons, Matthew Doyle Gunter and Jacob Nathaniel Gunter. Her animal survivors include Bitzi Bell, Nala
and Lady.
A gathering of Mrs. Gunter’s
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October
10, 2015, at Broussard’s in Silsbee. Her
funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Broussard’s,
with her interment to follow at Morse
Cemetery in Buna.
