Walterine Burnett
September 29, 1919 - September 28, 2015
Our mother, Frances Walterine
Burnett was born on September 29, 1919, to Josie and Albert Marcontell and died
on September 28, 2015, one day before her 96th birthday.
Mother grew up in Saratoga along with her
two brothers, Arnold and Albert Hugh Marcontell. She lived in Saratoga for seventy-nine years until daddy
died in 1999. We moved mother to
Friendswood where she lived for the last sixteen years.
She graduated from Saratoga High School in 1937. She was one of seven graduates. She was a cheerleader and played basketball.
Mother and daddy were married for
fifty-seven years. While daddy worked
away on drilling rigs, mother was busy taking care of us, looking after Josie,
Gramp, Little Ma, and Big Daddy Burnett.
She was a wonderful daughter and daughter-in-law.
Mother was very proud of her
heritage--of being a Patterson and a Marcontell. She had great friends that she loved in Saratoga; many of which
have passed on before her.
Most of all, our mother had a
huge heart and loved life. She taught us the importance of family and to always
love and be willing to forgive. She will
be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on in our family forever. Goodbye to our sweet mother and may God
cradle her in His arms forever.
Survivors include her children,
Beverly Parrish; Betty Sue Bradley and her husband, Curtis, all of Houston;
Douglas Burnett of League City; Toni Muse and her husband, Larry, of Houston;
and Waldine Ross and her husband, Jack, of Friendswood; grandchildren, Joe
David Phillips and his wife, Carolyn, of Houston; Curt Bradley of Friendswood;
Tonya Bentley and her husband, Ellis, of Webster; Jason Muse and his wife,
Vanessa, of Spring; and Jack Ross of Friendswood; great-grandchildren, Courtney
Phillips, Lindsey Simmons, Cameron Liem, Brian Phifer, Braxton Phifer, Lyndon
Muse, and Devon Muse; great-great-grandchildren, Ella Simmons and Lane Liem.
She is preceded in death by her
parents; our wonderful daddy whom she loved dearly, Gus Burnett; and brothers,
Arnold Marcontell and Albert Hugh Marcontell.
A gathering of Mrs. Burnett's
family and friends will begin at 11:30 a.m., with her funeral service to follow
at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe,
Kountze. Her interment will follow at Hall Cemetery,
Thicket.
