George "Lem" L. Jordan
August 9, 1931 - September 17, 2015
Lem
Jordan, 84, of Beaumont, spent his final days at the Jefferson Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center. He passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015.
He
was born in Tennessee on August 9, 1931, to Robert and Beatrice Jordan. His parents owned a dairy farm. As a youth,
he helped at the dairy with his brothers and delivered milk to the Memphis
area. When he was a young man, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served
for two years.
After
his service, he worked for Bluff City Buick in the used car division. In 1964,
he was transferred to manage the used car department at Spindletop Buick in
Beaumont, Texas. It was there that he met, Frankie Scott Frost. They married
and raised four children. Over the next forty years, he owned and operated
several used car dealerships with his friend, Robert or R.B. “Mac”
MacDougald.
He
will be lovingly remembered for his wit and his humor. Lem loved to care for
animals. He always had a bag of dog food
or cat food in the trunk of his car. He could make a car deal in a moment from
the arm of his recliner, without even seeing a car. Lem loved good food,
cooking, and playing with the little children in our family. He loved making “fun of and nick naming” the
kids that visited us and had a huge heart and loved anyone he met.
He
is survived by his wife, Frankie Scott Jordan; daughters Bonnie Jordan Porter
of Gulfport, Mississippi; Teri Frost McGinnis of Beaumont; and Alicia Jordan Macia
of Houston; grandchildren, Matthew, Shelby, Anna, Dane, Olivia, Emily, Elena,
Lydia, and several great-grand children.
He
is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beatrice Jordan; six siblings;
son, Joseph Jordan; daughter, Sherri Frost Thompson; and son, Don Allen Frost.
A
family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of
Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A United States flag will be
present in honor of his service in the United States Navy. A celebration of
life will be held at the home of Frankie Jordan on Saturday, October 10, 2015,
from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., and all family and friends are invited.
The
family would like to send their deepest gratitude to Julie, Laura, Nancy, and
Regina, as caretakers, Bryan, Will, and John McGinnis, Joel Smith, Altus Home
Health Care, all the staff at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in
Beaumont, Altus Hospice, and Broussard’s for the attention and care you’ve
given to him and our family.
