Mary Ruth Sanford, 89,
of Nederland died Saturday, September 5, 2015. A native and lifelong resident
of the area, she was born on December 22, 1925, to Rosa Canova Oldfield and
Benjamin Harrison Oldfield, Sr., in Port Arthur.
Mary enjoyed sewing,
reading, and watching criminal minds on television. She was a sweet and loving
person. Mary loved her son and grandchildren. She loved them so much that she
couldn’t say no to them.
Survivors include her
grandson, Jeremy Sanford; loving friends, Kristina DeVillier and her husband, Craig;
Mikala DeVillier; and Sara DeVillier, all of Nederland; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Emmett Arthur Sanford; son, Emmett Harrison; and
brother, Benjamin Harrison Oldfield, Jr.
A gathering of Mrs.
Sanford’s family and friends will be at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at
2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland
Avenue, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th
Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
