Joseph A. Touchet, 90,
of Winnie died Saturday, September 5, 2015. He was born on October 6, 1924, in
Kaplan, Louisiana, to Nelia Dailey and Elias Touchet.
Joseph was a United
States Navy veteran having served during World War II. He owned and operated
Joe’s Mechanic before his retirement. Joseph was a member of Knights of
Columbus and a lifetime member of VFW Post in Winnie and American Legion.
Survivors include his
wife, Eula Racca Touchet of Winnie; daughter, Judy Benson of Groves; sons,
Calvin Touchet and his wife, Ethelena, of Winnie and Thomas Lee Touchet and his wife,
Nancy, of Copperas Cove; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren;
six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Virgie Lemare and Dorothy Saltzman; and
brother, Elias Touchet, Jr., all of Kaplan, Louisiana.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; sister, Emili; and brothers, Joseph Bernard Touchet and
Alfred Touchet.
A gathering of Mr.
Touchet’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary
recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 7, 2015, at Broussard’s, 134 West
Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00
a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West
Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
