James "Jim" Clifton

James
“Jim” Clifton, 101, of Beaumont, died Saturday, August 15, 2015. He was born on July 7, 1914, in Milvid,
Texas, to Della Holland Clifton and Nathan Clifton. Jim attended Beaumont High School and Lamar
College. He served as a Lieutenant
Colonel in the United States Army both in the Pacific Theatre during World War
II, and later in the Korean War. Jim
retired from Mobil Oil in 1977 as unit operator.
He
was a member of South Park Lodge #1320, Cashan Grotto, Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1806, American Legion Post 33, Silsbee Shrine Club, Galveston El Mina
Shrine, Masonic Lodge 286, and Eastern Star Lodge #823.
He
is survived by his daughter, Jimmie Clifton, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina;
grandson, Parker Sniffen and his wife, Natalie Mason, of Chapel Hill, North
Carolina; great-grandchildren, Mina Mason and Casey Sniffen, of Chapel Hill,
North Carolina; great-nephew, Robert Plaia, of Mauriceville; great-niece, Amy;
great-great-great-nieces, McKenzie and Madison; sister-in-law, Lydia Ann
Littrell and her husband, Robert, of Vidor; dear friends, Mike and Kathy
Adams; caregivers, Mandy and Theresa; and all of his Guardian Angels.
Jim
is preceded by his wife, Henry Muriel Johnson; and parents.
A
graveside service for Mr. Clifton will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29,
2015, at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills, under the direction of
Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
