Alexson Bertrand, Sr.

Alexson Bertrand, Sr. , 80, of Winnie, died Thursday, August 13, 2015, at his residence, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 22, 1935, to Eudea Fontenot and Julian Bertrand, in Pine Island, Louisiana. He had been a resident of the Winnie area since 1949.

Survivors include sons, Terry Bertrand, of Stowell and Billy Bertrand, of Winnie; daughters, Becky McMahan and her husband, Paul, and Laura Shafer and her husband, Tommy, all of Winnie; and Sara Rose and her husband, Steve, of Hamshire; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Charles Underwood, of Stowell; sister-in-law, Jeanette Verde, of Beaumont; and brother-in-law, Curtis Abshire, of Winnie. Alexson will be especially missed by his two beloved pups, Rosie and Jellybean.

Mr. Bertrand was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Trixie Bertrand; daughter, Patricia Underwood, and grandsons, Patrick Rose and Robert Smith.

A gathering of Mr. Bertrand’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2015, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
