Ernestine Childs

Ernestine Childs, 84, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, August 2, 2015. She was born on June 20, 1931, in Nacogdoches, to Mary Mittie Henry and Louis Clayton Henry.

Ernestine enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was very active at Grace Church of The Nazarene and a recent member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres. Ernestine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Clayton Childs, of Port Acres; daughter, Pam Bell and her husband, Jeff, of Port Acres; sons, Garry Childs and his wife, Ellyn, of Nederland and Jeff Childs and his wife, Jana, of Deer Park; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Pat Bass of Nacogdoches; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ernestine is preceded in death by her parents, Mittie and Louis Henry; two sisters; and five brothers.

A gathering of Mrs. Childs’ family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Fairview Cemetery, Highway 21, Nacogdoches.
