Jane Owens Griffin

Jane Owens Griffin, 74, of Beaumont died Monday, July 13, 2015. She was born on February 23, 1941, to Reverend J.P. Owens and Louise Nichols in Jasper.

Jane retired from Nederland Independent School District after forty-one years as an educator. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Nederland. Jane will be remembered for her tenacious spirit, love of all dogs, and fondness of travel.

Survivors include her daughter, Tracey Manchac of Beaumont; son, Mike McCollum and his wife, Tracey, of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren, Sara and Jacob Wills, Bryan LaCroix,  Marisa Manchac,  Wendy McElroy, and  Justin and Nicholas McCollum; great-granddaughter, Emma McElroy; sister, Diann Dotson and her husband, Ray, of Jena, Louisiana; and brother, Judge J.P. Owens, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of Woodville.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of Ms. Griffin’s family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2015, at Broussard’s, Nederland with her graveside service at 2:00 p.m., at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.
