Larry W. Herring, 69, of Beaumont, died Saturday, July 11,
2015, at Mid Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Nederland. He was born on
December 24, 1945, to Lucille Collins and Thomas Franklin Herring, in Port
Arthur. Larry was a United States Marine Corp veteran having served in Vietnam.
He retired as an assistant chief appraiser after ten years for the Orange
County Appraisal District, previously working for the Jefferson County
Appraisal District.
A native and lifelong resident of the area, he lived in
Nederland and Beaumont for sixty-five years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church, Beaumont. Larry graduated from Acadia Baptist Academy, Eunice,
Louisiana, in 1964.
Survivors include his brothers, Frank B. Herring and his
wife, Rosemarie, of Nederland and John V. Herring of North Carolina;
step-daughter, Jennifer McNeil of Houston; nephews, Farrell T. Herring of
Nederland and Shane V. Herring and his wife, Tricia, of New Braunfels; and
numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of Mr. Herring’s family and friends will begin
at 3:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July
18, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was
held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the Calvary Baptist Church Youth or Choir Fund, 3350 Dowlen Road Suite A,
Beaumont, Texas 77706; or Charity of One’s Choice.
