Mary
Jeanette Guidry O’Dell passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Baptist Hospitals
of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on March 9, 1934, to Grace and
Elbert Horn, in Kirbyville.
Jeanette
resided in Beaumont for many years, and eventually moved to Silsbee in
1988. She worked as a nurse in health
care facilities for several years in Beaumont and Silsbee, and enjoyed caring
for others.
Those
left to cherish her are her husband, Walter O’Dell, of Silsbee; daughter,
Pamela Eberling and her husband, Stan, of Lumberton; son, Michael Guidry, of
Bridge City; stepdaughter, Christy O’Dell, of Beaumont; stepson, Brian O’Dell,
of Grand Junction, Colorado; sisters, Grace Dumesnil and her husband, Jeff, of
Bridge City; Billie Singletary and her husband, Don, of Bleakwood; Melda and
her husband, Mack Myers, of Kirbyville; and brothers, Mitchell and his wife,
Janice Horn, of Brookeland and Charles and Charlette Horn, of Kirbyville. She
was blessed with five grandchildren, Steve Guidry and his wife, Pearl, of Austin;
Scott Guidry and his wife, Leslie, of Peoria, Illinois; Lisa Tarver and her
husband, Brandon, of Bridge City; Bridget Walton and her husband, Clint, of The
Woodlands; and Alicia Bergman and her husband, Scott, of Beaumont; nine
great-grandchildren, Grant Guidry, Sophie and Michael Tarver, of Bridge City;
Elisabeth, Juan, and Clarissa Guidry, of Austin; Ethan and Justin Guidry of
Peoria; and Jacob Bergman, of Beaumont.
Jeanette
is preceded in death by her late husband, William J Guidry; parents, Grace and
Elbert Horn; sisters, Annette Hogan and Kathy Walker; and daughter-in-law,
Stephanie Guidry.
Thanks
to Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home for three plus years of loving care and the
remarkable doctors and nurses at Baptist Hospital, Beaumont.
A
gathering of Mrs. O’Dell’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue,
Beaumont. Her funeral service will be
2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at
Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. Don Singletary, Mack Myers, Tim Dumesnil,
Ken Dumesnil, Clint Walton, and Scott Bergman, will serve as pallbearers.
In
