Rupert Stanton Wolfrom, Jr
July 7, 1931 - June 25, 2015
Rupert
Stanton Wolfrom, Jr., 83, of Beaumont, passed away, Thursday, June 25,
2015. A resident of Beaumont for over
fifty years, Stanton was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Stanton
was born on July 7, 1931, in Texarkana, to Rupert Stanton Wolfrom and Irene
Newman Wolfrom and was raised in Houston.
Upon the death of his father, the family moved to Austin. Stanton attended Austin High School and The
University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega
fraternity. It was there that he met the
love of his life, Dolly Dolores Doiron, and they were married in 1954, in
Beaumont.
Upon
graduation, Stanton went to work at GMAC, and they lived throughout Texas. They were blessed with their first child,
Karen, while living in Corpus Christi, followed by sons, Stan and Scott in, San
Antonio. In 1964, Stanton and Dolly
returned to Beaumont where he became a partner with Hogdson, Stone, and Doiron
Insurance, now known as Stone, Doiron, and Wolfrom. Stanton continued to operate this successful
business until his death.
While
Stanton had many passions, his primary joys were University of Texas football,
golf with his longtime friends, and endless hours working on behalf of the
Beaumont Kiwanis Club. Stanton was a
lifetime member of the Beaumont Kiwanis Club and was committed to serving as
their President. He proudly served with
over 50 years of perfect attendance. He
was a proud recipient of the George F. Hixson Fellowship Award and was awarded
Lieutenant Governor of the Division 10 Kiwanis Oklahoma-Texas Chapter. He especially enjoyed his time serving as
the advisor to Key Club chapters at Kelly, West Brook, and Legacy High
School. He was a longtime member of the
YMBL, serving on many posts, and was inducted into their key man organization
as well. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and
enjoyed serving diligently on many committees over the years.
Stanton
lived for his Wednesday golf games with his longtime friends, and he
particularly enjoyed sharing his wealth with Frank Eastman, Jerry Nathan, and
Sonny Riedmueller—both on the course and at the gin rummy table.
He
is survived by his daughter, Karen Melvin and her husband, Dave, of Vestavia,
Alabama; sons, Stan Wolfrom and his wife, Suzanne, of Beaumont; and Scott
Wolfrom, of The Woodlands. Stanton was
especially proud of his beautiful grandchildren, Michael and Keith Melvin,
Megan and Taylor Wolfrom, and Austin and Lauren Wolfrom.
Stanton
is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Dolly Doiron
Wolfrom.
A
gathering of Stanton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Monday, June 29, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A
celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Trinity
United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont. A family graveside
service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
