Nader "Nate" Warren Bood
June 14, 1938 - June 18, 2015
Nader
Bood, 77, of Beaumont, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015. He was
born June 14, 1938, in Waco. Youngest of seven children, Nader grew up hunting
and fishing in the countryside around his home where he developed a love of the
outdoors.
He attended
Midway High School, where he lettered all four years in all sports. Nader was
chosen to the Super Cen-Tex football team his senior year. He was honored
by Midway High School with induction into their Hall of Honor.
Nader
attended Kilgore Jr. College on a full football scholarship. Upon completion of
his studies at Kilgore, he received a football scholarship at Lamar Tech,
Beaumont. He was named All-Conference his senior year. Nader graduated from
Lamar Tech in 1961, and was inducted into the Cardinal Hall of Honor in 1987.
While
at Lamar, Nader met his future wife, Margaret Girolamo. In July, they
would have celebrated fifty-five years of marriage. They have two children,
James Paul Bood, of Houston, and Mary Angela Lee, of The Woodlands. Margaret
and Nader have enjoyed their grandchildren; David Bood, Gina Bood, William
Bood, Rebecca Lee, and Meredith Lee.
Upon
graduation, Nader became a teacher/coach at Austin Jr. High, and later went on to
Beaumont High School as an athletic coach. He made a positive impact on many
young people, who continue to seek out “Coach”, even today.
Nader
was given the opportunity to become a State Farm agent after coaching for five
years. He continued to serve the Golden Triangle area as an agent for forty years.
Golf
was Nader’s passion; he played with his friends at every opportunity. His skill
awarded him nine holes in one.
He is
survived by his wife, Margaret Bood; children, James Bood and Mary Lee and her
husband, Mark; grandchildren, David, Gina, and William Bood; and Rebecca and
Meredith Lee; sisters, Mollye Click and her husband, Don Click and Shirley
Stebbins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nader
is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Nader Bood; brothers, B.J.,
Bob, and Charlie; son, Nader W. Bood, Jr.; and twin granddaughters, Kelly and
Lesli Lee.
Nader
will be remembered for his compassion and care of his family and friends.
His quick wit and caustic sayings will be remembered and quoted for years
to come.
A gathering of Mr. Bood's family
and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m.,
Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2015, at St.
Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with his interment
to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
