Ruby May Strother, 78, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015. She was born on February 10, 1937, in Oklahoma, to Oran Wesley McCallay and Josephine Adala Jackson. Ruby was a retired public school cafeteria worker.
Survivors include her children, Jessie Sallas of Fred; Ruben Strother and his wife, Judy; Sandra Patton and her husband, Darwin; and Audrey Ledesma, all of Silsbee; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great child; and sisters, Helen Bailey, Betty Jo Osterson, and Ruthie Conner.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fletcher Strother; grandsons, Nathan Strother and Brayden Gibson; sister, Janie Reeves; and brother, James McCallay.
A gathering of Mrs. Strother’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015, at The Church of Silsbee, 225 East Avenue K, Silsbee, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at The Church of Silsbee, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
