Paula Mae Monk
February 11, 1925 - June 9, 2015
Paula Mae Monk passed away, with
her family by her side, June 9, 2015. She died of complications due to pneumonia
& COPD, all of which she battled until the end.
She was a mom who gave credit
where credit was due and loved us not with words, but action. She was proud of her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a steadfast friend.
Maybe a little hard to get to know, but loved those in her life intensely. She
loved traveling with Dennis and their pets.
We have lost a great matriarch,
mother and friend. She would laugh at that. She didn’t consider herself as all
that important, but she was our mom and will be missed every day.
She is survived by her daughter,
Karen Seago; sons, Paul Monk and his wife, Donna and Nathan Monk and his wife,
Rita; and grandchildren, Julie Tibbetts, David Seago, Dennis Monk, Paula Droddy
, Cameron Monk, Natalie Miller, and Brandon Monk. She also had eight
great-grandchildren; and closest friend and part of our family, Joyce Felps.
She is preceded in death by her
husband, Dennis; mother, Oma Mae Brumbalow; stepfather, John Brumbalow;
brothers, Paul and Raymond Grant; and son-in-law, Gordon Seago.
A gathering of Mrs. Monk’s family
and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2015, at
Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service
will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2015, at Broussard’s, with her interment
to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions for Mrs.
Monk may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
