Naldia Wilma Reeves,
90, of Beaumont, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Houston Methodist Hospital. She
was born on April 28, 1925, in Singleton, Texas, to Marion Carl Burns Peteete
and Thomas Eugene Peteete. She was a longtime resident of the Beaumont area.
Naldia grew up in the
Singleton – Navasota area as the youngest of seven children. She graduated from
Navasota High School and went on to be a secretary at Mobil Oil in Beaumont
where she met her husband Gene. They were married nearly sixty-five years, before
his death in 2010.
Naldia was a homemaker
and wonderful mother who loved her family. She enjoyed cooking, shopping,
gardening, and most of all, playing bridge at the Beaumont Bridge Studio.
Naldia earned her way to Life Master Bridge Player in 1999.
She also enjoyed
traveling all over the world with Gene, from the Great Wall of China, to the
Great Redwoods in California, to Rome, Italy. Naldia was always up for a trip
to Las Vegas or a cruise.
The past three and a
half years, Naldia has lived in Houston at the Abbey at Westminster Plaza where
she had many friends and caregivers whom she loved very much.
Survivors include her
son, James David Reeves and his wife, Ebby, of Houston; sister, Robbie Downs of
Beaumont; and grandchildren, Travis M. Reeves, Cameron S. Reeves, and Landon T.
Phillips.
A gathering of Mrs.
Reeves’ family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service
to follow at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin
Avenue, Beaumont. Her entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park,
Beaumont.
