Velma
Maxine Taylor, 86, of Woodville, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Harbor Hospice,
Beaumont. She was born on March 2, 1929, in Beaumont, to Jennie Whynot Holden
and Leo Dwyer Holden, and had been a long time resident of the area. Velma was
a graduate of South Park High School. She retired as a clerk from Kansas City
Southern Railroad after thirty-eight years of employment.
Velma is survived by her son, Daren Cassidy and his wife, Donna, of Beaumont;
daughter, Jennie LeBlanc and her husband, Joe, of Orange; son-in-law, Bill
Tolar, of Woodville; step-daughter, Jacqueline Woods and her husband, James, of
Farmer Branch; brother, Jody Holden and his wife, Anita, of Warren; nine
grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Taylor; daughter, Diana Tolar; nine
siblings; and her parents.
A
gathering of Mrs. Taylor’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her
funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015, at Broussard’s,
1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery,
Beaumont.
