Donna LaRive, 81, of Winnie, passed away
Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Winnie Community Hospital. Donna was born March 2,
1934, in Beaumont, to Sylvia Cuniff Barnett and James Calvert Barnett, and had
been a longtime resident of the area. She was a 1951 graduate of South Park High School,
Beaumont. Donna enjoyed plants, gardening, and working in the yard. She was
best at being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Aunt Donnie.
Survivors include sons, Joe
LaRive and his wife, Carrie and James W. Finn and his wife, Annie, all of
Winnie; John C. Finn and his wife, Dana, of Anahuac; and Roy LaRive and his
wife, Anita, of Dayton; daughters, Sue Ellen Bergeron, of Winnie and Mary
Fuller and her husband, Charles “Skip”, of Bastrop; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Calvert Barnett,
of Lubec, Maine; sisters, Mary Belle Blanchard and her husband, James, of
Galena Park; Hazel Cassidy and her husband, “Gibby”, of Lubec, Maine; Brenda
May, of Zavala; and Becky Keenan, of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews; and
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Leroy LaRive; and longtime companion of thirty years, Manuel
Blos Dixon, Jr.
A gathering of Mrs. LaRive’s
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 10, 2015,
at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be
10:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015, at Broussard’s, followed by interment at
Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
