Alton B “Al” Childs, 81, of Port
Arthur, died Saturday, April 25, 2015. He was born on May 26, 1933, in Tenaha,
to Lois Ables and Sidney V. Childs.
Alton will be remembered as a man
that loved the Lord and playing golf. He enjoyed cooking and was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Alton was a United States
Army veteran and a retired machinist.
He is survived by his loving wife
of twenty eight years, Dorothy Childs of Port Arthur; sons, Bruce Childs and
his wife, Heidi; Alan B Childs; and Boyd Childs and his wife, Gina, all of
Vidor; and Kent McNeely and his wife, Caaron, of Mobeetie, Texas; daughters,
Kellie Carter and her husband, Pete, of Vidor; Kim Neely and her husband, Max,
of Port Neches; and Karol Dougherty and her husband, Dennis, of Pampa, Texas;
fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Childs and
his wife, Betty, of Amarillo; Clayton Childs and his wife, Ernestine, of Port
Acres; Jerry Childs and his wife, Pam of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister,
Doris Lunsford and her husband, Lavon, of Nacogdoches; and numerous other
relatives and friends.
Alton is preceded in death by his
parents; first wife, Bettye Jo Childs; and brother, Bill Childs.
A gathering of Mr. Childs family
and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at
Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 Canal Street, Port Acres. His funeral service will
be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment
will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Vidor.
