Winston Overton Kirk passed away
Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Silsbee Oaks Health Care Center, Silsbee. Winston
was born December 2, 1916, in Beaumont, to Laura Perryman Kirk and Bronson
Cooper Kirk, Sr.
During World War II, Winston
served in the United States Navy from January of 1942 until December of 1945,
attaining the rank of Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class. After honorable discharge from the Navy,
Winston worked for the United States Postal Service and retired as the manager
of South End Station in Beaumont. Winston loved to travel with his wife and
family.
He is survived by his wife, Arlie
Gates Kirk; daughter, Edythe Elaine Kirk; nieces, Betty Evans Ricks and Janice
Busbee Lester; and nephews, David Asa Kirk, Quinton Kirk, Donald Overton Ickles,
and Daniel Wayne Ickles.
The youngest of seven children,
Winston is preceded in death by his brothers, Claude David Kirk, Carl Kirk, and
Bronson Cooper Kirk, Jr.; and sisters, Mittie Kirk Caldwell, Helen Kirk Ickles,
and Hazel Kirk Busbee.
A graveside service for Mr. Kirk
will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine
Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive,
Beaumont.
