Jack Douglas Tomplait, 88, of Groves, Texas passed from this
life on April 1st, 2015. He was born on December 1st,
1926, in Port Arthur, Texas.
Jack is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Gloria M.
Tomplait of Groves, Texas. He is survived by his two brothers; Thomas Tomplait
and wife, Gladys, of Cambridge, Ohio and Malcolm Tomplait and his wife,
Genevie, of Porter, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and
Monterey Tomplait, and brothers, Glen and Gordon Tomplait.
Jack is survived by four sons: Douglas Tomplait and wife,
Judy, of Lumberton, Texas; Doye Tomplait and wife Nancy of Groves, Texas;
Dallon Tomplait and wife Michelle of Groves, Texas; and Drek Tomplait of
Houston, Texas. He had seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tomplait served in the Merchant Marines during World War
II. He retired from Texaco Refinery in 1982 after employment there as a
machinist for 36 years. He was a member of Parkway Life Church of Lumberton,
Texas.
A
gathering of Mr. Tomplait’s family and friends will begin at 1:30 p.m., with a
celebration of life service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015, at
Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Interment will follow
at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
