Leo Paul Decuir, Jr., 69, of Hamshire, passed
away peacefully at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Thursday, March 5,
2015, surrounded by his family and extended family. He was born on September
17, 1945, in Nederland, Texas to Mary Alice Barron Decuir and Leo Paul Decuir,
Sr.
Paul was a 1964 graduate of Nederland High School and a member of the 1961-62 State
Football Championship Runner-up team. He
then attended Panola Jr. College on a football scholarship. Before completing his studies, Paul was drafted
into the United States Army, and served during the Korean Conflict. He then returned to his education and
graduated from the South Texas School of Law. Paul was a very dedicated lawyer,
and the owner of Paul Decuir Jr. Law Office in Houston, Texas. To say he was passionate about law was an
understatement. He truly enjoyed every
minute in the courtroom.
Paul was member of Knights of Columbus. He was an
avid sportsman and a member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling to
Louisiana to the casinos… (Delta Downs knew him by first name J). Paul loved to watch
old westerns and listen to music from the 50’s and early 60’s. He enjoyed
family time and he delighted his siblings and aunts and uncles with much love
and humor. He was certainly a great
brother, father, grandfather, Great-grandfather, cousin, nephew and
friend. There was never a dull moment
when Paul was around.
He is survived by his son, Cary Paul Decuir and his wife, Kim, of Round Rock; his
daughter Dayna Castillo and husband Eddie, of Beaumont; his brothers, Chris
Decuir; Mark Decuir and his wife, Monica; and sisters, Mable Rudisill and
Charlene "Shorty" Decuir, all of Hamshire; grandchildren, Breanne
Miller Furlough and husband Andy; Jonathon Miller, Gabby Castillo, Zach, Amy
and Jacob Decuir; great-grandson, Layken Furlough; nephews, Troy Ihle, Josh
Decuir, and Adam Decuir; great nieces, Ciara Will and husband Cody and Emily
Ihle; great nephews, Hayden and Jaxon Decuir; and numerous family members and
friends.
Paul is also survived by
his dearest friends, Guy “Woody” Woodrow; Hassan Safarzadeh; his law partner
Alia Moore; and dedicated office manager Sandra Diaz. These were friends he
could always count on to stand beside him through thick and thin! He truly loved
you all!
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; Paul Decuir, Sr. and mother Mary; nephew,
Bret Decuir; brother-in-law, J. W. Rudisill; his grandparents Elvina Marie
Palumbo Decuir and Leonce Joseph Decuir.

8:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015, at

be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at St. Louis Catholic

Cemetery, Winnie.
The family would like to give special
thanks to doctors and staff of The Veterans Hospital in Houston for the many
years of care and dedication to Paul.
