Alvin Leonard Van Marion

Alvin Leonard Van Marion, 91, of Nederland, died
Monday, February 2, 2015. He was born November 13, 1923, in Nederland, to Olga
Stehle and Leonard Van Marion, and had been a lifelong resident of Nederland.
Alvin was a United States Navy veteran having
served during World War II. He retired
from Texaco after thirty-six years of service. Alvin was an avid gardener and
some say he grew the best tomatoes in Mid-County. He enjoyed dominoes, and in
earlier years fishing. Alvin was a pastry chef at heart.
Alvin is survived by his children, Leonard Van Marion
and his wife, D’Juana, of Orange; Wilhelmina Allen and her husband, Curtis, of
Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Christina Akbari and her husband, Hossain, of
Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren, Brad Van Marion, Bree Cammack, Brittny
Williams, Ariana Akbari, and Syrina Akbari; eight great-grandchildren; brother,
Nelis Van Marion and his wife, Dorothy, of Beaumont; and sister, Shirley Solis
and her husband, Nick, of Beaumont.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; and
sisters, Norma Wilkins, Pearl Cureton, Betty Menard, and JoAnn Walker.
A gathering of Mr. Van Marion’s family and friends
will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Broussard’s,
505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His graveside service will be
11:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2015, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 101 Block
Street, Port Neches.
