Jewel
Ann Scott, 75, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014. She was born on September 11, 1939, in Port
Gibson, Mississippi, to Mildred Eudora Jackson Tanner and Ivan Maurice Tanner,
Sr. Jewel was a loving individual and will be missed by those who knew and
loved her.
Jewel
and Dale met in Dallas where they both were living in the same apartment
complex. She had moved from Jackson, Mississippi to Dallas on her way to
Denver, Colorado where she had been offered a job in a doctor’s office there. They started dating in Dallas and Dale moved
back to Fort Worth, only to have Jewel follow him. She rented an apartment in Fort Worth and he
rented a lake house on Lake Worth. After continuing to date, they were married
June 30, 1966 and honeymooned in Horsetail Falls, Old Mexico. When they returned to Fort Worth, Jewel
continued her career working for doctors.
Jewel worked as a medical secretary that began in Jackson, Mississippi
and continued in Fort Worth and Beaumont where she retired as office manager
for Dr. Ramachandren in 2001. Following her retirement, on her 62nd
birthday, Dale presented Jewel with a little yorkie puppy that she named
Pebbles. She loved and cherished Pebbles
who has been their house pet ever since.
In
1976, Acme Brick Company transferred Dale to Beaumont where Jewel was a stay at
home mom. In 1980, he was transferred to
Austin where Jewel got interested in ceramics and had two ceramic kilns in the
garage and made all kinds of neat things.
She was also heavily involved in scouting with her children while in
Austin.
After
retirement, she loved to work in her yard with flowers and fruit trees and was
real proud of her back yard. She loved
to fish and enjoyed many vacations on the water with her family. She was a member of Calder Baptist Church in
Beaumont.
Survivors
include her husband, Dale Scott; children, Andrew Scott and his wife, Tiffany
and Ashley Scott, all of Silsbee; grandchildren, Emma Scott Wellman, Lauren
Scott Wellman, Trenton Boring, Shelby Bouffaine, and Andrew LeBlanc; brother,
Carl Tanner and his wife, Phyllis, of Tallahassee, Florida; and sister, Carolyn
Jennings of Harrisonville, Mississippi.
She was
preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ivan M. Tanner, Jr.
A
gathering of Mrs. Scott’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m.,
Monday, January 5, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Hardin
Memorial Park, Silsbee.
