Gladys
Meyer Bay, 86, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Christus
Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on November 16, 1928, in Brenham,
Texas, to Elsie and Walter Meyer, Sr.
Gladys
always looked forward to spending time with her family who all loved her
dearly. Her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought a big
smile to her face and a sparkle in her eyes. She also spent over sixty years
working in the field of insurance. Gladys retired from GBS Insurance Agency in
2012, at the age of 83. She was very dedicated to her career and truly loved
her years in the insurance industry and all the special people she met along
the way.
Gladys
is survived by her niece, Susan Meyer Geyser and her husband, William, of
Beaumont; grandchildren, Kristin Geyser of Nashville, Tennessee; Tiffany McKenzie
and her husband, Matthew, of Beaumont; Megan Geyser of Lawrence, Kansas; Denise
Arthur and her husband, Craig, of Houston; Diane Nicholas and her husband, Hayden,
of Austin; Linnea Carlson-Bay and her husband, Fredrick Martensson, of Los
Angeles, California; and Eric Carlson-Bay of Stockholm, Sweden;
great-grandchildren, Colton Nicholas, Christian Arthur, and Thomas McKenzie; dear
friend, Kathy Herrera and her husband, George, and their children, Lauren and
Cameron; and her loving friend and caretaker, Margie Seals.
Gladys
is preceded in death by her husband, Don Sears Bay; and brothers, Walter Meyer,
Jr. and Gene Meyer.
A
gathering of Mrs. Bay’s family and friends will begin at 11:30 a.m., with her
funeral service to follow at 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at Memorial
Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston. Her interment will follow at Memorial
Oaks Cemetery, Houston.
