Helen
Decuir Viator, 86, of Beaumont, died Friday, November 28, 2014, at Calder Woods
in Beaumont. She was born on April 6, 1928, to Melazie Clark Decuir and Otto
Decuir in Nunez, Louisiana. Helen enjoyed sewing and cooking traditional Cajun
food. Every Thursday she would have friends come by for coffee, cookies, cake,
and would pray the Rosary. She was a loving and generous person who loved her
religion and was a proud member of the Cathedral Ladies for many years. Helen
never met a stranger and would hug and kiss everyone.
Survivors
include her husband of sixty-seven years, Lenes Viator; children, Dale Viator
of Houston; Brent Viator and his wife, Camilla, of Madisonville; Deborah Day
and her husband, Doug, of Austin; and Carla Viator and her friend, Terri
Winnie; grandchildren, Stoney Viator, Leslie Viator, David Thompson, Heath
Thompson, and Neal Thompson; great-granddaughters, Taylor Viator and Payton
Viator; sister, Maudry Bridgers of Beaumont; and brother, Wilton Decuir of Lafayette,
Louisiana.
She
is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lovelace Decuir.
A
gathering of Mrs. Viator’s family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00
p.m., with a Rosary recited at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014, at
Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. The family would like for you to
join them for a lunch prior to her service on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00
p.m., at Unity Church of Beaumont, 1555 South 23rd Street, Beaumont.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 1,
2014, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, with her
interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
