James Roy Ary
August 24, 1932 - November 25, 2014
James Roy Ary, 82, of Nederland,
Texas passed from this life on November 25, 2014. He was born on August 24,
1932, in Berryville, Arkansas, the son of Roy Ary and Chloe (Stacy) Ary. He served
in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married his wife Betty Slinkard
in 1957, after his discharge from the army.
They made their home in Tulsa Oklahoma. James worked for the Douglas
Aircraft Co. while attending Tulsa Technical College. He applied for a position
with the federal aviation administration, was accepted and began his career in Amarillo,
Texas. In 1974 he was transferred to Jefferson
County Airport in Nederland, Texas. He worked at Houston IAH (now Bush) airport
and later transferred to Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City. James retired
while at Oklahoma City with 36 plus years of federal service. James and Betty
decided to move back to Nederland, Texas to be near their children and
grandchildren.
James was a member of the
Stonegate church of Christ in Port Arthur, Texas for many years.
James was preceded in death by his
parents Roy and Chloe Ary, two brothers Harold and Jack Ary, all of Berryville,
Arkansas.
James is survived by his wife
Betty of Nederland, son Mark and wife Paula of Kingwood, Texas, son Steve and
wife Alice of Nederland, Texas, a brother Gene and wife Sharon of Berryville,
Arkansas, and seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A
gathering of Mr. Ary’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his
funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014, at
Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to
follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
