Wilbur Warren Powers, 93, of Port Neches, died
Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Harbor Hospice House, Beaumont. He was born on
May 13, 1921, in Palacios, to Elsie May Shumaker and Frank Jerod Powers, and
had been a longtime resident of the area. Wilbur was a United States Army
veteran, having served in the 87th Black Hawk Division during World
War II. He saw action in Europe and in the Philippines.
Survivors include his son, Johnny Powers and his wife,
Paula, of Port Neches; grandsons, James Powers and his wife, Tisha and Blake Powers and his wife, Jessica, both of Groves and Brent Powers and his wife,
Natalie, of Port Neches; great-grandsons, Michael, Alex, Mathew, and Samuel;
great-granddaughter, Caroline; and sister, Mabel Faye Harvey, of Bay City.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight
years, Mamie Jane Powers; son, Wayne Powers; and numerous brothers and sisters.
A gathering of Mr. Powers’ family and friends will be
9:00 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22,
2014, at the First Baptist Church, 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches, with
interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, under the
direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, Texas.
