Wendell L. Cornwell, 90, of Lumberton, died Friday,
November 14, 2014. He was born on
January 24, 1924, in Beaumont,
to Lucy Miles Cornwell and Sam Monroe Cornwell.
Mr. Cornwell served his country in the United States Marines during
World War II and later worked as a bricklayer at Gulf Oil Corporation for
thirty-seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth
Denson Cornwell; son, Daniel Cornwell of Austin; grandchildren, John David
Cornwell and his wife, Tricia, of Pearland; Jason Cornwell and his wife, Sara,
of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Ashli Sambaluk and her husband, Eric, of
Grapevine; great-grandchildren, Lila Cornwell and Davis Cornwell; and sister,
Joyce Bratcher of Weatherford. He is
preceded in death by his parents; sons, David Wendell Cornwell and Jonathon
Keith Cornwell; granddaughter, Paige Lynn Carpenter; brothers, Woodrow Cornwell
and Sam Cornwell; and sister, Melba Hamilton.
A gathering of Mr. Cornwell’s
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November
15, 2014, at Broussard’s, 490
Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m.,
Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Knupple Cemetery, Silsbee.
