Vella Louise Rogers

Vella Louise Rogers, 83, of Stowell, died Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on March 7, 1931, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Rita Mamber Rogers and Louis Rogers, and had been a resident of the Stowell area for over sixty years.

Vella was a woman with a big heart. She was devout in her faith, whose home was always open and inviting to anyone that needed somewhere to go. Vella enjoyed the outdoors, sitting on her porch, and visiting with people.

Survivors include her nieces, Marilyn Green and her husband, Roosevelt, of Stowell and Cecilia Batiste of Dallas; nephew, James Batiste of Stowell; many great-nieces and nephews; and a host of stepchildren and grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by her parents; sisters, Ella Batiste and Juanita Charlot.

Graveside services for Mrs. Rogers will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014, at at Fairview Cemetery, 223 Cemetery Road, Winnie.
