Elsie Elizabeth Richard, 86, of Port Neches, died Thursday, November
6, 2014, at Lake Arthur Place, Port Arthur. A native and lifelong resident of
the area, she was born on April 8, 1928, to Beatrice Jesse Waters and Arthur L. Phillpott, Sr., in
Port Arthur.
Elsie will be remembered for her excellent Cajun cooking and as
a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful and longtime
member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Molly Nelson and husband,
Ronny, of Baytown; sons, Bobby Richard and his wife, Becky, of Lumberton and
Allen Richard and his wife, Diana, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Kellianne,
George, Mindy, Dillen, and Ryleigh; great-grandchildren, Megan, Nikki, and
Sarah; and sister, Linda Taliaferro and her husband, Danny, of Port Acres.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years,
Garland Richard; son, G.C. Richard, Jr., grandson, Matt Richard; brother,
Arthur L. Philpott, Jr.; and sisters, Margie Chatinerger, Rose Coats, and Ruby
Beardon.
A gathering of Mrs. Richard’s family and friends will be from
6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505
North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m.,
Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Broussard’s, Nederland, with interment to follow
at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
