Clifton Leon
Blackstock, 88, of Lumberton, passed away early Monday morning, October 20,
2014, at home.
Clifton was born
November 15, 1925 in Shelby County, Texas to Will and Nancy Blackstock. He grew
up in Rosevine, Texas and graduated from San Augustine High School. Clifton was
a member of “The Greatest Generation”, having served in the United States Army
during WWII. He served in the 27th Armored Infantry Division in
Remagen, Germany.
Clifton retired from
Mobil Oil after thirty-three years as a unit operator. He was a loyal member of
the John Land Sunday School class at Trinity Methodist Church. He was a
Christian husband, father, and friend. He loved hunting and fishing with his
brothers, and enjoyed all sports, especially watching his Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his
wife of 65 years, Romona, of Lumberton; son, John Blackstock and his wife,
Elizabeth, of Lumberton; daughter, Marianne Blackstock, of Houston; one grandson,
Jaxson Reed Blackstock; sister, Rena Mills, of Lumberton; and brother, Burnice
Blackstock, of San Augustine, Texas.
Mr. Blackstock is
preceded in death by 8 siblings.
The family wishes to
thank all his caregivers for their tender care and patience: Mandy Harris,
Breah Parker, Eunice Layton, and Robin Mullins.
A memorial service will
be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Trinity Methodist
Church, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue,
Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Methodist Church,
