Gloria Valdez Garcia

Gloria Valdez Garcia, 85, of Port Arthur, died Thursday, October 16, 2014. She was born on September 11, 1929, in Port Arthur, to Guillermina DeLaRosa and Jose Valdez, and had been a resident of the area most of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Frank R. Garcia; daughters, Gloria M. Garcia and her husband, Hector and Sylvia Olney; sons, David Medrano and Joe Edward Medrano and his wife, Linda; sister, Rose Garcia; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Monica Govera; grandson; Hector Garcia, Jr.; three sisters; and one brother.

A gathering of Mrs. Garcia’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
