RD Williams, Jr.
May 13, 1928 - September 29, 2014
RD Williams, Jr., 86, of Lumberton, died Monday,
September 29, 2014, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont. He was born on May 13, 1928, in Hamburg, New
Jersey, to Mary K. Franek Williams and RD Williams,
Sr. RD served in the United States Air
Force during the Korean conflict and retired after twenty years. He then became a long distance tanker truck
driver from which he retired for the final time.
For the last ten years, RD made
his home in Lumberton. He adored his children and
grandchildren. Dad was an avid hunter
and fisherman. He had many good friends
at Hillebrandt Bayou where he spent a lot of time fishing, eating, and telling
tall tales. RD never met a
stranger. He loved to talk to anyone who
would listen. One of his favorite hang
outs was the Pig Stand in Beaumont
on College Street
where he met and drank coffee with a group of retirees almost everyday
faithfully until it closed. Dad loved to
cook but got his talent from his mom.
Dad also had a green thumb. His
specialty was roses, but anything he touched would grow. He had a special place in his heart for his
two Schnauzers, Dukie and Dukie, Jr. (Junior for short).
Survivors include his children,
Debbie Green and her husband, Harry, of Nederland; Steven Duffy and his wife,
Fran, of Helena, Montana; Michael Williams and his wife, Laura, of Lumberton;
and Raymond D. Williams of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Amanda Williams
Bell and her husband, Ronnie, of Beaumont; Trey Green and his wife, Dionna; and
Tracy Rinando and her husband, Joey, all of Humble; and great-grandchildren,
Lexie, Jackson, Nevaya, Sam, and Sadie. He
is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Frank and Vern Williams.
