Alfred "Fred" F. Werner

Alfred
F. “Fred” Werner Jr., 88, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 29, 2014. He was
born on April 12, 1926, to Ethel and Alfred F. Werner, in Brooklyn, New York,
and had been a longtime resident of the Beaumont area.
Alfred
was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II. He received a
bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from The University of South Carolina
and a master’s degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University in
Teaneck, New Jersey. Alfred worked many
years for Kentile Flooring Company, but later moved on to Uniroyal Rubber and
Tire where he found his passion in the rubber industry.
He
was a member of The American Chemical Society and held several patents in the
rubber industry. Alfred was also mentioned in The Who’s Who in American
Business Men for his accomplishments.
He
is survived by his son, Fredrick Werner and his wife, Patricia, of Spring;
daughters, Sandra Gratias and her husband, Steve, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania and
Debra Zaktansky of Watsontown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, John Zaktansky,
James Zaktansky, April Gratias Ziegler, Wesley Werner, and Christopher Werner; and great-grandchildren,
Katherine Zaktansky, Allison Zaktansky, Paige Zaktansky, Samantha Zaktansky,
and Peito Zaktansky.
Alfred
was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Belle Werner; brothers,
Charles Matthews and Robert Matthews; and sister, Ethel Matthews Kazner.
A
memorial service for Mr. Werner will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2014, at
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 777 North 4th Street, Beaumont, under the
direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A family committal
was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
