Betty
Ann LeBlanc Taylor, 81, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2014, at
Emeritus of Dowlen Oaks in Beaumont, Texas, surrounded by her family. Born
September 24, 1932, and a lifelong resident of Big Hill (Fannett), Texas, Betty
was the daughter of E.L. “Bub” and Annie Belle LeBlanc.
She
married J.H. “Bub” Taylor on December 29, 1951. Bub and Betty were partners in
farming and ranching for fifty-four years until the death of Bub. She was a
happy farmer’s wife and looked forward to cooking for the cattle working men
when she wasn’t supporting her various organizations. Betty was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church of Fannett. Through her dedication to St. Mary’s, she
formed lasting relationships with many parish priests and parishioners. At the
church she was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, St. Mary- St.
Louis-Maria Catholic Daughters of America and taught Catholic Catechism classes
for years. On most Tuesdays, you could find the St. Mary’s Sewing Club, made up
of women from mostly the Altar Society, at Betty’s making sock monkeys and
clowns to sell to raise money for the church. When her children were in school
she served on various school related organizations. She loved to shop, gamble
with her brother-in-law, Ted, and spend time with family and friends.
Betty
is survived by her children, Mary Goss of Channelview; Terry LeBlanc and her
husband, Mike, of Erath, Louisiana; and Joseph “Joe” Howard Taylor, Jr. and his
wife, Michelle “Shelly” of Big Hill (Fannett); brother-in-law, Ted Loupe of
Fannett; her favorite niece, Patricia “Pat” Craigen of Katy; grandchildren,
Micah Gill of Channelview; Judd Melancon and his wife, Jada, of Pearland; Kelli
Miller and her husband, Josh, of League City; Kara Mabe and her husband,
Michael, of Pearland; Carli Jo Taylor and Joseph Trace Taylor, both of Fannett;
great-grandchildren, Brooke Wood, Haydn Wood, Jase Taylor Melancon, Julianne
Kay Melancon, and Jillian Jaymes Melancon; and numerous relatives and friends.
She
is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.H. “Bub” Taylor; sister, Mary
Bell Loupe; brothers, L.T. LeBlanc and Larry LeBlanc; and mother-in-law, Lillie
Bell Craigen Taylor.
The
family would like to thank Emeritus of Dowlen Oaks and all of its wonderful
staff, Century and Riverside Hospice, and Dr. Dederian and his staff at Renal
Center of Beaumont.
A
Rosary for Mrs. Taylor will be recited at 6:00 p.m., with a gathering of her
family and friends to follow on Friday, on September 12, 2014, at Broussard’s,
1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9894
Gilbert Road, Fannett, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in
Beaumont.
In
lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Mary
Catholic Church Building and Contingent Fund, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont,
Texas 77705-8878.
