Mildred Marie Curl, 83, of
Nederland, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Memorial Hermann Hospital,
Houston. She was born on November 8, 1930, in Orange, to Lela James and William
McKinley Strother.
Marie loved being with her
family, talking to friends, and reading to children. She was a longtime member
of First Baptist Church of Nederland and a retired teacher’s aide with
Nederland ISD.
Survivors include her sons, Billy
Curl and his wife, Barbara and David Curl and his wife, Dotti, all of Port
Neches; daughter, Lisa Johnson and her husband, Wacey, of Port Neches;
grandchildren, Michael Curl and his wife, Rynda, of Yukon, Oklahoma; Allena
Graves and her husband, Tim, of Garland, David Curl; Daniel Curl; Dixie Curl;
Katie Johnson; and Bryan Johnson, all of Port Neches; great-grandson, William
Reader Curl of Yukon, Oklahoma; sister, Edie LeBlanc and her husband, John, of
Beaumont; nieces, Rene LeBlanc Jones and her husband, Roger, of New Braunfels
and Sharon Merrell and her husband, Bob, of College Station; and nephew, Gary
Curl of Conroe.
She is preceded in death by her
husband of fifty years, Hillyerd Curl; and parents.
A gathering of Mrs. Curl’s family
and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014,
at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral
service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2014, at First Baptist
Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff
Memorial Park, Port Neches.
