Essie Fontenot Hidalgo
April 14, 1920 - August 22, 2014
Essie Fontenot Hidalgo, 94, of
Fannett, died Friday, August 22, 2014, at The Arboretum Nursing Home and
Rehabilitation Center, Winnie. She was born on April 14, 1920, in Ville Platte,
Louisiana, to Essy Fontenot and Adelaide Carriere, and has been a resident of
Fannett since 1925.
Essie was a chartered member of
the Friendship Sewing Club in Hamshire and a member of the Catholic Daughter’s.
She attended St. Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Mary Altar
Society.
Survivors include her children,
Sandra Sullivan and her husband, Doug, of Llano; Gregory Hidalgo and his wife, Kay, of
Grapevine; R.A. Hidalgo and his wife, Charlotte; David Hidalgo and his wife,
Diane; Annette Manning and her husband, Bert; and Ronnie Hidalgo and his wife,
Shirley, all of Fannett; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine
great-grandchildren; eight brothers; and five sisters.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Andrew Hidalgo; and two brothers.
A Rosary for Mrs. Hidalgo will be
recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends to follow, Sunday,
August 24, 2014, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2014, at
St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett, with interment to follow
at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
