John "Johnny" Ray VanMeter

John Ray “Johnny” VanMeter, 58,
of Nederland, died Friday, August 15, 2014. He was born on August 20, 1955, to
Jean Mathis and August VanMeter, in Refugio.
Johnny enjoyed fishing, golf, and
being with friends and family. He was a member of Eagle’s Lodge #3747 in
Nederland and an avid supporter of American Legion Post 7.
Johnny is survived by his wife of
twenty-eight years, Faye VanMeter; brother, Charles VanMeter and his wife, Belinda, of Houston;
sister, Linda Prewitt of Orange; and his faithful canine companion, Belle.
He is preceded in death by his
parents; and sister, Susan VanMeter.
A gathering of Mr. VanMeter’s
family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow
at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th
Street, Nederland. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to Dominican Sisters of Houston, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas
77021-2095.
