David "Ace" Carroll Atkinson

David
“Ace” Atkinson, 75, of Winnie, died Monday, July 29, 2014, at Winnie Community
Hospital, in Winnie. He was born August 3, 1938, in Robstown, to Linda Hunter
Atkinson and Arthur Atkinson, and had been a longtime resident of the Winnie
area. Ace was a United States Army veteran and retired from Goodyear as an
electrical technician.
He
was a gifted artist and collected antique glassware, he had an extensive Bible
background, and will be remembered as a master at Trivial Pursuit.
Ace
is survived by his wife of two years, Judy Atkinson of Winnie; son, John
Atkinson of Sugar Land; sisters, Betty Towns and her husband, Roger, of Boerne
and Kathy Elder of San Antonio; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Maurine Atkinson; son,
Kenneth Atkinson; and infant daughter, Carol Ann Atkinson.
A
gathering of Mr. Atkinson’s family and
friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2014, at
Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be
10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Broussard’s. A family committal for Mr.
Atkinson will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
