Marie Rini Carcara, 80,
of Nederland, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She
was born on March 20, 1934, in Lecompte, Louisiana, to Lena Genova Rini and
John Rini, and had been a longtime resident of the area. Marie retired as a teacher’s aid from Langham
Elementary after twenty-five years of employment.
She loved her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie spent most of her time working in
the yard and with her flowers. She
enjoyed playing games at the Deacon’s house. Marie had many hobbies but mostly
liked reading and taking care of her birds. She enjoyed eating crawfish, and
was a great cook. Marie was active with the Altar’s Society and distributed communion
to the sick.
Survivors include her
daughter, Laura Anne Stewart and her husband, Jeff, of Liberty; son, David Lee
Carcara and his wife, Trish, of Nederland; grandchildren, Joshua Franks and his
wife, Danielle; Michael Carcara; Lex Stewart; Cara Stewart; Ryan Stewart;
Hillary Douglas; and Haley Miller; great-grandchildren, Lucas Franks, Parker
Franks, Mollie Rose Boylen, and David James Douglas; brother, Sam Rini and his
wife, Shirley; sisters, Johnnie Hart and her husband, Tim and Brenda Daenen and
her husband, Alan; and brother-in-law, Nick Carcara.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Anthony Carcara; parents; and sister, Faye Pontif.
The family would like
to thank Harbor Hospice House, especially Elizabeth and Lisa.
A gathering of Mrs.
Carcara’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with her Rosary recited
at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th
Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.,
Saturday, July 26, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue,
Nederland, with entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
