Belvie E. Newman, 92, of Nederland, passed away
Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Mary, Port Arthur.
Mrs. Newman was a native of Creston, Louisiana, and
lived in Nederland since 1966. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her two
sons and her granddaughter. Mrs. Newman was a member of Fellowship Baptist
Church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, dominos, reading, and spending time
with her family.
Mrs. Newman is preceded in death by her husband,
Harold Newman; and son, David H. Newman.
She is survived by her son, John P. Newman and his
companion, Jean Jenschke, of Nederland; granddaughter, Candice O. Newman and
her fiancé, John W. Aslany, of Orange; and honorary grandson, Daniel Baird of
Nederland.
Special thanks to Freddie and Albert Gibson for all
the special things they did for her and her family, and the staff of St. Mary’s
Hospital.
A gathering of Mrs. Newman’s family and friends
will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Broussard’s,
505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00
p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1315 27th
Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port
Neches.
