Phyllis "Joy" Joy White
July 4, 1937 - July 11, 2014
Phyllis Joy White, 77, of Lumberton, died Friday,
July 11, 2014. She was born on July 4,
1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Alva Chappell Stevens and
James D. Stevens. Mrs. White had worked
as a cosmetology instructor.
Survivors include her daughters,
Stephanie Hooks of Lumberton; Rebecca Lucas and her husband, Jerry, of Chester,
Virginia; Phyllis O’Brien and her husband, Michael, of St. Louis, Missouri; and
Mary Greer and her husband, Gil, of Silsbee; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren;
brother, Dr. Robert Lee Stevens and his wife, Elizabeth, of Durrant, Oklahoma;
and sister-in-law, Donna Stevens. She is
preceded in death by her parents; son, John Charles White, Jr.; brother, Reverend
James D. Stevens; and sister, Ann Stevens Lowe.
Her committal was held at
Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
